‘Excellent’, Kanadyjsky, Canada, July 2012
We stayed 4 nights at this wonderful place. The apartment was the far end unit, with only goat pasture beyond. It is very large, with a terrace on the ground level and a balcony on the bedroom level, both facing the bay and Elounda, which is only a kilometre away, but the location is completely rustic. We had a true double bed. However, the three-level apartment is not suitable for the physically handicapped, although fortunately the stairs do not creak.
Below the Villas is a beach and boat launching ramp, but for really perfect conditions go to the east side of the island (a short drive or longish hike), and you can find a beach entirely for yourself, south of the horrendously noisy (10am – 4pm) beach visited by tour boats. The water on the east side is superbly clear, but beware the little fish taking nips from your body (“fish therapy” for free!).
This is a family run place (mother and daughter), and we were very happy with the service provided. There is a large covered cafe/bar, offering breakfast, lunch, snacks and drinks. A good restaurant for dinner is about 5 minutes away, and across the bridge and causeway (another 5 minutes) is the whole of Elounda to choose from: it is not at all the hoity-toity place you might expect for Crete’s “most exclusive” resort town.
